WPL 2025: Smriti Mandhana reacts as RCB trades Danielle Wyatt from UP Warriorz

In a major trade ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have secured the services of England’s seasoned batter Danielle Wyatt from UP Warriorz (UPW).

Danielle Wyatt moves to RCB at her current price

The league made the announcement on Wednesday, confirming that Wyatt will join RCB at her current fee of INR 30 lakhs, a figure at which UP Warriorz had initially acquired her.

““Originally acquired by UPW in the auction for INR 30 lakhs, Wyatt will move to RCB at her existing fee,” the WPL stated in an official release.

Wyatt brings a wealth of experience to RCB, having played 164 T20 Internationals (T20Is) for England – the highest number for any English player in the T20I format,” the WPL added, highlighting Wyatt’s extensive T20 career and deep international experience.

Wyatt’s inclusion is expected to strengthen RCB’s batting lineup significantly. With 258 international appearances and a recent stint as England’s top scorer at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE, she brings proven batting prowess. Her dynamic approach to the game is underscored by a career strike rate of over 125 in T20Is, making her an exciting addition to the squad.

RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana welcomes Wyatt on board

RCB captain Smriti Mandhana expressed her enthusiasm about the new signing. “Danielle is a game-changer and a phenomenal athlete,” she told the Bengaluru-based franchise.

Mandhana added, “Her skills and competitive spirit align perfectly with our team’s vision. We are excited to welcome her to RCB and look forward to the energy she will bring to the squad.”

With Wyatt’s transfer, the defending champions have gained a player with not only experience but also a natural attacking style that could offer the team explosive starts and crucial runs. As the third-most capped player in women’s T20Is, following only Harmanpreet Kaur and Suzie Bates, Wyatt’s addition signals RCB’s intent to reinforce their lineup with both skill and reliability for the upcoming season.
