In the second ODI between the West Indies and England, England’s skipper Liam Livingstone delivered a memorable performance, scoring his maiden ODI century at the, Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, on Saturday (November 2).

Livingstone reached his milestone in the 46th over with a single off West Indies bowler Joshua Forde. As he tapped the ball to long-on, his teammate Sam Curran who was on the other end of the strike raised his hand in early celebration, recognizing the captain’s landmark. Livingstone then celebrated in his own way, removing his helmet, kissing the Three Lions badge, and looking towards the heavens, marking his achievement with a sense of calm and humility.

Livingstone’s explosive innings saw him conclude with 124 runs off just 85 balls. His knock was decorated with 5 fours and an astonishing 9 sixes, showcasing his ability to find the fence with ease and underlining his skill as one of England’s most dangerous hitters. Remaining unbeaten, Livingstone steered England to a confident finish and was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.

England chases down the target

Batting first, the West Indies put up an impressive total of 328 with the loss of 6 wickets  in their allotted 50 overs. Skipper Shai Hope was the backbone of the Caribbean innings, scoring a resilient 117 off 134 balls. Hope’s innings featured 8 fours and 4 sixes, holding the innings together and allowing the West Indies to set a daunting target for England.

In response, England chased down the target with notable determination, reaching 329 with the loss of 5 wickets in 47.3 overs. Livingstone’s century was complemented by solid contributions from his teammates, as England displayed a well-coordinated chase that saw them prevail by five wickets. With this victory, England levelled the ODI series at 1-1, setting up an exciting decider in the third and final match.
